Mt. Desert Nursing Association to Sponsor Carryout Cafe
When the Community Cafe began nine years ago, it was abundantly clear it was a recipe for success. Like so many other programs, we’re adapting our luncheons so that we can continue to safely serve the community. Thanks to the strong support of our Cafe business sponsors and a generous private gift, the additional takeout packaging coasts won’t stand in the way of doing just that! For season number ten, the Cafe will be known as the “Carryout Cafe,” offering homemade lunches to-go on the first and third Thursday of each month.
The first Carryout Cafe is set for Thursday, November 5th and is generously sponsored by the Mt. Desert Nursing Association. The menu will include a choice of Homemade Beef Stew or Butternut Squash Bisque, Zesty Kale Salad, a Biscuit, and Apple Crisp for dessert. You can get a sneak peek at the entire 2020/21 menu on our Cafe page.
Takeout service will run from 11:30am through 1:00pm (or while supplies last). Meals will be packaged and ready to go at the service window of the kitchen. Guests should plan on wearing a cloth mask while inside and enter through the main entrance (straight through the entry, in the Great Hall, and kitchen towards the left). For those not comfortable entering the building, please call ahead (276-5039) and your meal will be set aside. When you arrive in your vehicle, you can call again and your packaged lunch will be brought directly to your car.
The suggested price is just $7 for each luncheon, and seniors are invited to enjoy their meal “on the house” if they would like.
