The MDI Community Campfire Coalition is a true safety net for so many of our neighbors. It is a program jointly run by The Neighborhood House and the Harbor House. Households who qualify receive 150 gallons of heating fuel. Last year, we assisted 133 households at a cost of just over $61,000. We are asking for all hands on deck for the coming heating season. The cost of fuel oil is up 74% over this time last year. Please consider attending this fundraiser or making a donation by mailing a check to: MDI Community Campfire Coalition, C/o The Neighborhood House, P.O. Box 332, Northeast Harbor, ME 04662. Christmas Carol Cavalcade 2025!

n what has become a holiday tradition, The Neighborhood House led a group of kid carolers around town prior to a performance of “The Grinch” by the Frogtown Mountain puppeteers.

12th Annual Frosty 5K

The 12th Annual Frosty 5K is set for Saturday, December 6. The “race” is intended for both runners and walkers, competitive or otherwise. Four-legged friends are also invited to take part. It’s a great excuse to get outside, get some fresh air and enjoy the scenery during this short run/walk. The 5K also serves as the start of the annual Northeast Harbor Christmas Festival which includes events and activities along Main Street and around town throughout the day.

Halloween Hoopla on Board the Treat Truck

On Friday, October 31 The Neighborhood House crew took to the road to spread a little Halloween cheer. The gang brought a van full of treats all around town including stops in Otter Creek, Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Somesville and Hall Quarry.
