Treat Truck Traverses Town for a Tremendous Time!

Heading towards Halloween 2020, there were plenty of question marks as to how the celebration would go over. Well, we are happy to report that other than some very clever and creative cloth face masks, things felt exactly like any other year aboard the “Halloween Treat Truck.” All things considered, that discernible feeling of normalcy and joy is perhaps the greatest sign of success.

Dozens of trick-or-treaters and their families turned out across Mt. Desert, and the Treat Truck was there to deliver via the first of its kind 6 ft. “Candy Claw.” Stops were made in Otter Creek, Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Somesville, and Hall Quarry. When the dust settled, staff and volunteers of The Neighborhood House and Mt. Desert Chamber of Commerce dished out more than 125 pre-packaged treat bags.

The mission statement of The Neighborhood House declares one of the primary organizational goals as “the maintenance and improvement of the community values and spirit of the town.” Some of that spirit was certainly spread on Halloween, so thanks are in order to those who paid us a visit as well as those who helped out along the way. We truly hope next year’s Halloween festivities are just as successful!
