2024 Pool Public Swim Schedule

NOTE: The final week of public swim times will be August 21-25. Public Swim will be held M-F with special hours from 2:30pm-5:30pm.

Normal Schedule

Monday - Friday

4:00 PM - 6:00PM

SATURDAY

12:00 - 2:00PM

Note: Public swim time can be cancelled or amended due to weather (both actual and predicted) as well as lifeguard availability. If you have any questions, please call The Neighborhood House at 276-5039.

End of Season Update (8/16/24):

Saturday, Aug. 17- NO PUBLIC SWIM

Monday, Aug. 20- Open Swim 3:00-5:00pm

Thursday, Aug. 22- Open Swim 3:00-5:00pm

Friday, Aug. 23- Open Swim 3:00-5:00pm

Saturday, Aug. 24- Open Swim 12:00-2:00pm

Basic Pool Rules

• Young children must be accompanied by an adult.

• Always listen to and obey any instructions from the Lifeguard.

• No running or diving

• Please be respectful of other swimmers and their space

• Food and (non alcoholic) beverages are okay on the pool deck (with the exception of glass containers).

• The pool is owned by the Town of Mount Desert, and all policies and ordinances that pertain to municipal property should be followed at all times

About the Town Pool

The Neighborhood House maintains and staffs the municipal swimming pool, located adjacent to Mt. Desert Elementary, on behalf of the Town of Mt. Desert. The pool typically opens for the season on the first day of the summer camp program.

A "Public Swim" program is offered, typically in the late afternoons during the week, and midday on the weekends. Exact hours vary from year to year and are dependent on lifeguard availability, weather, and other factors. Please note, young children must be accompanied by an adult and note that our pool lifeguard is there to watch the water and not intended to serve as a “babysitter.”

The Neighborhood House is always in search of certified lifeguards interested in helping staff the pool. If you or someone you know is a certified lifeguard (or interested in becoming certified), please contact us.
