AB & JR Hodgkins Builds a Solid Menu
The popular Community Cafe luncheon program returns Thursday, December 19 with the meal generously sponsored by AB & JR Hodgkins. Whether you want to come in from the cold or just get out of the house, you won’t want to miss a menu including a choice of Traditional or Vegetarian Lasagna, Kale Caesar Salad, Fresh Bread contributed by Old Dog Baking Co., along with coffee and a selection of dessert.
Help Us Solve the "Clock Caper"
You might have heard that thanks to some generous private funding, the clock on the side of The Neighborhood House is being refurbished just in time for the building’s 115th year. The clock was removed from its perch a few weeks ago and will be refurbished and restored right here on MDI. In the spring it will be returned better than new.
Frosty 5K Race Results
Congratulations to all of who participated in the 7th Annual Frosty 5K on Saturday, December 7. The event kicked off with an impressive start at the Kids Fun Run and continued with the 5K Run & Walk. Below are the results of those who ran the 5K:
The Grinch Returns to NE Harbor
The Neighborhood House and Northeast Harbor Library are excited to announce the return of the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers for a performance of “The Grinch.” This FREE all ages show gets underway on Tuesday, December 17 at 4:00pm.
Northeast Harbor Christmas Festival Events & Activities
The Mount Desert Chamber of Commerce will be holding the Northeast Harbor Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 7. The festivities get underway with the 7th Annual Frosty 5K, followed by activities throughout the day along with special shopping deals and dining options.

With cool winter temperatures finally here, there’s no better way to warm up than by stopping by for lunch at the Community Cafe. This Thursday, December 7, our friends from Coastal Computers will generously be sponsoring lunch.
ACT Presents: Closed for the Holidays
The Acadia Community Theater will be performing their annual holiday show at The Neighborhood House on Friday December 13 and Saturday, December 14. Curtains open for the Friday performance at 7pm, and the Saturday show is a matinee at 2pm.
NEW CLASS! On the Mat: Blended Yoga/Pilates
We will unroll our mats to engage our core. Using a blend of yoga forms and Mat Pilates exercises, we will challenge the three layers of core muscles to build new strengths. Before, during, and after, we will stretch from head to toe to increase our flexibility, decrease muscle tension, improve muscular balance, increase circulation, improve range of motion, reduce pain, and further engage core strength. This is a friendly and accessible class for everyone. Beginners are welcome.
Registration Now Open for 7th Annual Frosty 5K!
Celebrate the season and get a little fresh air at the 7th Annual Frosty 5K on Saturday, December 7th. Online registration is available for just $10 in advance and the first 50 registrants will receive an official Neighborhood House fleece neck warmer (Race day registration is $15).
Halloween Hooplah!
On Halloween the staff of The Neighborhood House hit the road aboard the “Treat Truck” to visit Seal Harbor, Somesville, and then back to NEH handing out plenty of treats along the way. Here are some snapshots of the fun

Toot! Toot! Treat Truck Traverses Town
Mt. Desert Island’s only mobile Halloween extravaganza is set to hit the road Thursday, Oct. 31st and making stops throughout town. Why bring the Trick-or-Treating to us, when we can bring it to you?! "Kids" of all ages are invited to stop by the mobile Treat Truck to say hello and grab some treats... if you dare!
