Swallowfield Welcomes a Crowd
On Thursday, November 1, The Neighborhood House Community Cafe kicked off another season welcoming a tremendous turnout of nearly 90 guests for lunch. Most years the opening Cafe event draws a “smaller” crowd as people around MDI are still settling in to their fall and winter routines. That was far from the case on Thursday, however, as Swallowfield generously sponsored the fun by serving up homemade Chicken Pot Pie, a Garden Salad, coffee and dessert, serving about 90 community members.
You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!
The Neighborhood House and Northeast Harbor Library are thrilled to announce the return of the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers for a performance of “The Grinch.” This FREE all ages show gets underway on Wednesday, December 19 at 4:00pm.
A wacky take on the Dr. Seuss classic, this show has become a holiday tradition with audience members young and old alike. Popcorn will be provided, and the show runs about 45 minutes.
Kickoff the Season with the Frosty 5K
Celebrate the season and get a little fresh air at the 6th Annual Frosty 5K on Saturday, December 1st. Online registration is available for just $10 in advance and the first 50 registrants will receive an official Neighborhood House fleece Head/Ear warmer (Race day registration is $15).
Swallowfield Hosts Community Cafe Kickoff
Fall is here, and as the cold winds blow that means it’s time to come warm up with lunch and laughter at The Neighborhood House Community Cafe. This year’s Cafe season commences on Thursday, November 1st and is generously sponsored by Swallowfield.

Mt. Desert Island's only mobile Halloween extravaganza is set to hit the road once again this year, making stops around MDI! on Wednesday, October 31. Why bring the Trick-or-Treating to us, when we can bring it to you?! "Kids" of all ages are invited to stop by the mobile Treat Truck to say hello and grab some treats... if you dare!
On Your Mark. Get Set. Go!
The Neighborhood House house is pleased to once again serve as the official gathering spot for the “Half” portion of the MDI Marathon. On Sunday, October 14, runners will begin gathering beginning around 6:30am all the way up to race time at 8:30 am.
The public is invited to stop by and enjoy coffee and breakfast snacks before making our way down Neighborhood Road to the start line on Manchester and cheering on all of the competitors.
