Instructor Richard Parker will be offering “Yoga for Skillful Living” every Wednesday and Sunday from 8:00 to 9:00 am beginning on Sunday, May 2. The fee is just $10 per class and all proceeds will benefit The Neighborhood House! Class size is limited to allow for ample physical distancing, so pre-registration is required.

This moderate class (you can choose to raise or lower the intensity) is designed with the foundational poses that make up a well-rounded asana practice. Focus is placed on safe and effective alignment (without hands on adjustments) rather than striving for idealized versions of poses. Each class addresses balance, core strength, the six motions of the spine, and those parts of the body that remain short and compressed by habitual patterns and gravity. I follow the same pattern in every class but with a different sequence each time. The final 8 minutes are devoted to meditation/savasana, with a wide variety of optional meditation techniques. Many of my students have been practicing for years, and there are often those new to asana and Yoga. All are welcome

Please note that The Neighborhood House follows all Covid guidelines issued by the State of Maine. As these guidelines adjust, we will make our own changes accordingly.

  • Pre-Registration required so that we can maintain a proper level of attendance

  • Students should sign-in to the guest book located outside the main interior entrance of the Great Hall (for record keeping purposes).

  • At the time of publishing this post, masks are REQUIRED during class regardless of vaccination status. Please keep your face covering on at all times.

  • Bring your own mat. If you do not have a mat please contact us in advance and we can provide one for you.

  • Please place your mat so that the top edge meets one of the blue marks on the Great Hall floor. This ensure we have a safe level of spacing.
