#Uncookout2020 Sizzles!
Our first ever “UNcookout” is in the books! We missed our annual “Community Cookout” gathering on Memorial Day, but can think of no better alternative than still celebrating the holiday and unofficial start of summer with some of the amazing restaurants, fishermen, and farmers who call our island community home.
The purpose of this online event was two-fold:
Encourage everyone to support our local businesses who are scrambling to navigate through the current (and temporary) uncertainty.
Give us all a trial run at adapting to some of the new offerings our local establishments have rapidly adapted to offer such as phone and online ordering, scheduled pickups, curbside service, etc.
Here’s the best part. Unlike our Community Cookout on Memorial Day, if you missed the fun over the weekend, there’s till plenty of time to show your support for our local eateries, or get fresh ingredients from our local farmers and fishermen— you’ve got all summer! While the number of visitors is likely to be down this season, the bright spot is it gives all of us lucky enough to call this island home the opportunity to take advantage of easier parking, shorter waits, and a safe means to enjoy some fantastic meals.
