Exploring Our Neighborhood

A “Virtual Tour” of what’s happening around Northeast Harbor

While on a recent video conference with members of our Fundraising Committee, those members who were joining in from out-of-state expressed a desire to see “whats’ going on” around town. After all, sitting at safely at home following CDC guidelines from hundreds or even thousands of miles away doesn’t diminish a love for Northeast Harbor and Mt. Desert. Knowing that their trips “home” will be delayed indefinitely, it was suggested that some photos or a video of NEH could be posted to share with those eagerly awaiting when it’s safe to return.

So on a sunny Wednesday morning, after our video conference had concluded, we set out around the village with our iPhone in hand. Sure there’s no production value (other than the “Mr. Roger’s style jazz-piano soundtrack!), but if you’re sitting far away and dreaming of a safe return to Northeast Harbor and what it will look like, this might help tide you over.

You’ll notice the Main Street renovation project which is currently focused on burying electrical utilities and rebuilding curbs and sidewalks before taking a break for the summer, along with a couple of other construction projects. And stay tuned because along the way we ran into (6 ft. apart, of course!) a couple of familiar faces.

P.S.- If you missed our first YouTube video, “Cooking with The Neighborhood House: Hot Fudge,” you can find it right here! 🍨
