Frosty 5K Finishes Strong

On Saturday, December 2nd, a large contingent of runners and walkers turned out for the 5th Annual Frosty 5k. The festivities served as the official kick-off of the Northeast Harbor Christmas Festival, organized each year by the Mt. Desert Chamber of Commerce. The morning started with the "Kids Fun Run," which took a healthy number of young runners down Rock End Road and back.

After the kids had returned from the Fun Run, over fifty folks of all ages-- both runners and walkers-- gathered at the starting line, located just outside The Neighborhood House. With bright sunshine and temperatures hovering around 40, it was a beautiful morning to take in the scenery along the course which wrapped around the village.

There were some impressive times logged at the finish line, but equally as impressive were the high-fives, laughter, and smiles shared by the competitors no matter which position they fjnished in. The Frosty 5K will return in December, 2018 for  the sixth edition of what is becoming a highly anticipated annual tradition.
