The Neighborhood House
The Neighborhood House has been many things to many people since its doors opened in 1905. In those hundred-plus years, the Town of Mount Desert has certainly gone through a plethora of change, as too has The Neighborhood House itself. One thing that has remained the same, however, is the mission of The Neighborhood House and the important
role it plays within our community.
The vaudeville performances and bowling lanes from years past may have long since been superseded by community celebrations, yoga classes, and the like; but the spirit with which it was founded remains the same. In fact, today, The Neighborhood House offers more programs and events than it has at any other point in its long history.
UPDATE: Fitness Room is OPEN!
Efforts by Volunteers Gets Room Up & Runningl
After a "flash flood" on Thursday, May 10 due to heavy rains (and we suspect problems with the storm sewer), the cleanup effort was almost immediate. After spending several days removing flooring, molding, etc., to get everything dry and prevent mold, things finally started going back together, and the room opend up for "business" on Friday, May 18.
Note to all fitness members: To make up for the week of lost time, as well as thank you for your patience, we have added TWO weeks to all active memberships. Additionally, the lower level Studio is still undergoing some repairs, but will reopen shortly as well (we'll keep you posted).
