Bike Parade & Ice Cream Social a Sweet Success
On Thursday, August 8, a crowd of hundreds gathered at the end of Main Street for the 24th Annual Bike Parade & Ice Cream Social. The evening started with bike “decorating” on the lawn of The Neighborhood House. Kids (and adults) took advantage of a huge supply of festive decor— bows, streamers, stickers and more— to make their rides stand out.
At around 6:00pm it was down to business as the crowded field of participants lined up behind a police escort along Rock End Rd. to get set for the parade. Then it was off, as the revelrous swarm of bikes, trikes, scooters and wagons made their way down Neighborhood Road, took a right onto Tracy Road, maneuvered the tricky right turn down Summit Road, and then back down Main Street to the cheers of Main Street shop and restaurant patrons. It all ended right back at The Neighborhood House where a volunteer crew was set to serve up hundreds of hot fudge sundaes to the participants and onlookers.
No need to fret if you missed the fun— the Bike Parade isn’t going anywhere. It’s never too early to mark you calendar for next summer and July 24, 2025 for the 25th edition of this silly but greatly beloved event.
