After School Youth Club starts August 29

The first day of school is nearly upon us, and that means it’s also time for another season of after school activities at The Neighborhood House.

For more than two decades, The Neighborhood House has offered children and families a flexible and fun option for kids to “hang out” four afternoons a week. The After School Youth Club is in session every Monday through Thursday, after school until 5pm. Kids can attend every day or just every once in a while— whatever works best for their families schedule. Our 15 passenger bus meets participants each afternoon right outside Mt. Desert Elementary and whisk them down to The Neighborhood House (on nice days, staff members meet the kids and they’ll walk as a group).

A snack is offered and daily activities include group games, craft projects, outside time at the MDES playground or other walkable locations around NEH, and time to get a head start on homework for those who would like to do so.

This non-custodial recreational program is open to all children from Kindergarten up. A copy of the registration form is available here. Please note that even if your kiddo has joined us for Youth Club in the past, we ask everyone fills out a new registration form. If your child will be attending, you should alert the main office at Mt. Desert Elementary and classroom teacher so that they are aware of your child’s after school plan.

The participation rate is $425 for each half of the school year, or $15 per drop-in. We will send an invoice based on the less expensive of the two. Automatic payments can also be set up, and financial assistance is available on a confidential basis (just email or call Executive Director, Anne-Marie Hart). Our goal is to give every child the opportunity to have fun in a positive and supervised environment each afternoon.
